David began his career as a journalist in Tucson, Arizona. After writing for a variety of publications, he decided that the constant focus on finding bad negative news (known in the industry as “feeding the beast”) was not something that he wanted to be a part of. He uploaded his resume onto multiple job boards and decided to see what was out there, expecting to find something in a related field such as publishing or technical writing.

Shortly thereafter, he received an unexpected phone call from Waddell & Reed Financial, an asset management firm with an office in Tucson. They wanted to meet him, he was told. This surprised David, as he hadn’t heard of many journalists making the jump to Wall Street. It turns out that his background in communicating difficult subjects in a way that made them easy to understand which had caught the interest of Waddell & Reed, who eventually offered David a job. It was while at Waddell & Reed where he had an epiphany that writing stories for publication and writing financial plans for clients had far more in common than he could have imagined.

David was recruited to join J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. in 2010, where he worked for the next nine years. He became the first registered representative in Arizona to ever serve in both the Private Client Banker and Private Client Advisor roles. During that time, he was frequently sought out by managers across the southwest to provide individual coaching to new advisors, as well as teaching classes in practice management. David developed a specialized focus in planning for blended and multigenerational families, individual risk management, and trust administration as well as receiving awards for client satisfaction, client retention, and business development.

In June of 2019, David joined Moors and Cabot Investments. He was drawn to the firm's independent, privately held, and family-oriented culture; attributes he believes are crucial for long-term success in the field. Since joining Moors & Cabot, he has begun to establish himself in multiple niche areas of financial planning, including planning for families with special needs children, planning for individuals going through a divorce, and helping millennial families plan for the future. David sees these as being three areas that receive very little focus from traditional wealth management firms and is passionate about helping people in these categories.

David is the father of two young sons, Beckett and Graham. He and his wife, Jen, are fierce advocates of animal welfare and have two rescue dogs named Bamboo and Barclay. In his free time, he enjoys shooting landscape photography, cooking, and writing both fiction and nonfiction. Originally from Boston, David considers Central Phoenix home after living there for 20 years.
